Akshay Ahuja

Akshay-optimised

Akshay grew up in New Delhi, India, and Bethesda, Maryland, USA. His favourite stories from childhood are the Indian epics: the Mahabharata and the Ramayana. Beyond the anonymous classics of religion and folklore, the authors he feels closest to are Thomas Hardy and Edward Thomas, and among American writers Willa Cather and Herman Melville.

He has lived for several years with his wife in Somerville, Massachusetts, working at various publishing jobs. In his own time, he garden and writes and plays music (amateurishly), and blogs, occasionally, at The Occasional Review. Books are a joy for him and possibly an unhealthy addiction: he is always eager for a recommendation, but also for a way of understanding things that doesn’t only involve consuming more words.

Akshay is the book reviewer for Dark Mountain online.
