John Michael Greer

Archdruid, organic gardener, historian of ideas and all-terrain intellectual gadfly, John Michael Greer first learned about resource depletion and the limits to growth while getting underfoot in the appropriate-tech movement of the late 1970s, and somehow managed to avoid the mass brainwashing of the Thatcher/Reagan ‘Greed Is Good’ era that followed it.

These days he writes a weekly blog at The Archdruid Report and has authored four books (and counting) on the deindustrial future ahead of us. He lives in an old red brick mill town in the northern Appalachians with his wife Sara. John’s essay on Robinson Jeffers opened the first Dark Mountain book.
