Daniel Nakanishi-Chalwin

Daniel Nakanishi-Chalwin grew up in a granite house by the sea in Cornwall. An early interest in haiku led to a degree in Japanese at Oxford University, where he specialised in classical literature.
Having first come to Japan as a student 25 years ago, Daniel has spent the last 11 in a semi-rural part of Nara Prefecture (landlocked, alas). He lives in a Ballardian tower block overlooking a car park and extensive paddy fields.
The author of an unpublishable novel about a man being stalked by insects in Tokyo, Daniel has contributed regularly to Dark Mountain since 2015, as well as working as a ‘scout’ on Issue 15: TERRA. He is a militant tea drinker.
