Helen Jukes

Helen is the author of two critically acclaimed books, A Honeybee Heart Has Five Openings and Mother Animal. She has also written for Aeon, The New York Times, Port Magazine and others. In 2025, together with her friend Louisa Wright (former manager of Quaker Publishing), she started the fledgling imprint, Ember Press, in memory of writer and activist David Gee. Helen teaches Creative Writing for the University of Oxford and Faber Academy, and lives on the edge of the Peak District, UK.
