Tom Smith

Tom lives in Brno in the Czech Republic. He grew up in Ireland where he was gradually seduced by ecology, anarchism, primitivism, degrowth and other ‘stories’ subversive to rampant technological civilisation. He has edited three Dark Mountain books (issues 8, 9 & 13) and an interview he conducted with Chellis Glendinning appears in Walking on Lava: Selected Works for Uncivilised Times. In 2013, his interests in practicing post-civilisation led to the co-founding of a land-based community in the west of Ireland, An Teach Saor (The Free House). Tom currently researches economic alternatives in the Department of Environmental Studies at Masaryk University.
