The Art of Psychoecology
Warren Draper
1st June, 2022
First of our watery posts this month, Warren Draper follows the currents of his homeland river Don in Yorkshire, and contemplates the radical act of immersion With music and video.
It may have begun as a collaboration between two writers, but Dark Mountain soon slipped beyond the bounds of the written word. Today, the visual and performing arts are strongly represented in the pages of our books, as well as at the festivals and gatherings that have taken place around this project.
The encounter with other art forms has taken us in surprising directions. There’s been a mail-art project inspired by the manifesto, a year-long Dark Mountain Workshop at Sweden’s national theatre and a special issue in which all the artwork was painted on the skins of roadkill deer.
In this section, you’ll meet some of the artists we’ve collaborated with or featured in our books, and learn more about the stories behind their work.
